Project Build Gives Families Down Payments: Vernon Mortgage Broker Spreads the Good News

HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BUY A HOUSE IN VERNON, but you just can’t get a down payment together?

Like a lot of people I see as a mortgage broker in Vernon, you’re probably doing your best to make ends meet. You’re working, you’re paying your bills, and at the end of the month, there just isn’t much left to save up for a down payment on a mortgage on a house in Vernon.

Well, now there’s help.

The Project Build Society just announced it’s going to give grants to 75 Vernon families who can qualify and carry a mortgage, but need help coming up with a down payment.

If you’re employed and you have good credit, this could be your ticket towards home ownership!

By the spring, Project Build Society’s three developments will be under construction. The projects—offering units that range from $300,000 to $400,000—include 14 duplexes near Okanagan Lake, 28 duplexes and fourplexes at Copper Crest Vista, and 33 condominiums on Turtle Mountain.

Six months later, you could be one of the 75 families getting out of renting and into home ownership.

Your family could soon be enjoying meals in a kitchen you own with the Project Build Society's non-repayable grants for employed parents with good credit who need help with a down payment.

How are all those down payments going to be paid? Through donations and support from local businesses, individuals, financial institutions, developers and realtors committed to making affordable housing in Vernon a reality.

Will you qualify?

According to www.projectbuild.ca, eligibility is based on a combination of need, ability to qualify for and carry a mortgage, and good credit.

“We are looking for families who we feel are ‘on the cusp of success’ but just haven’t been able to save enough for a down payment in these challenging economic times. We know it can be difficult to get into the housing market in the Okanagan, and we want to be part of the solution.”
